Backup, Backup, Backup

Tuesday, October 13th, 2009

After reading multiple articles on ZDnet, Cnet, and PCworld (just to name a few), I’ve noticed a few articles of users losing data. One article is about 800,000 T-Mobile Sidekick users who have lost all of their user data from their phone due to a server failure.
Another article is about a bug in Snow Leopard that loses all users data if you upgrade to OSX 10.6 and leave the guest account enabled. If you login to the guest account accidentally or on purpose, it proceeds to create a new folder over the existing user folder and delete all the information that was previously stored in that folder. All these instances of users losing important data leads me to believe that people aren’t covering their bases, either because they don’t know how or are not sure of what route to go. That’s where we come in (Computer Troubleshooters), we can help users make sure they have a safe and secure way to backup their data, whether it be for a phone or a computer. Data backup is an important part of technology today, you never know when something bad could happen that’s why it’s important to keep your data backed up and CT’s are here to help.

Following articles detail the data losses:
